Affectionately known as "Holy Tab", the church was conceived in 1966 under the charismatic leadership of Bishop Joe L. Smith. The Lord rewarded his labor of love for people and the community with the building expansion in 1996. An increase of over 1200 souls, several radio and television broadcasts at home and abroad also marked the presence and increase of this ministry with numerous spiritual and material blessings to accomplish his vision.
After the Lord called him home in January 2000, Holy Tabernacle Church continues in the fervency of spirit and effective evangelistic ministry through divine worship services, prayer and the study of God's Word. This has resulted in divine favor with sustained growth in global affiliation and membership under the anointed leadership of its current Pastor, Bishop Arthur F. Jack.
With media broadcasts, the opening of a Bible College, the operation of the NECUB Daycare Center and an increase in several member churches and affiliations at home and abroad, the Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Apostolic is a light on a hill fulfilling the vision of the Lord to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to reach the lost, to provide aid to those that are in distress and to make faith and love a reality in the hearts and souls of men.

Bishop Joe L. Smith was a native of Prattville, Alabama. He was the husband of Gladys and the father of nine children.
Bishop received the call of God to the ministry in 1962 and was ordained October 4, 1964. In 1966 Bishop organized and founded "The Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ Apostolic Inc." in Boston, Massachusetts.
Bishop was the Vice-President of the United Pentecostal Ministers Conference of Massachusetts, a Board Member of the Center for Urban Ministerial Education (CUME) Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary and was actively involved in several community affairs and other organizations.
He was also the founder of (NECUB) New England Conference on Unity Building, a Church & Community Self Help Program, where people help each other.
Bishop led Holy Tabernacle Church to a membership of over, One Thousand, two hundred, which caused a major expansion in 1995 to accommodate the tremendous growth. In addition, he was the Presiding Prelate over Seven Churches, including one in Trinidad.
Over the years, Bishop had received Recognition and Awards from the City of Boston, Massachusetts House of Representatives, Massachusetts State Senate, the Salvation Army, and others.
He was a lover of God and people. At Holy Tabernacle he had a Food Pantry, giving out food once a month for the needy; a Rescue Team that goes out to Detox Centers and Prison to council people and help them back into a better way of life; a share program; good food for less; a Support Group, each Monday night people come for support - drug addicts, alcoholic, domestic problems, etc.; GED Program for those who did not get a high school diploma and a welfare to work program for those who are coming off of public assistance, just to name a few. He was a strong leader in the community. So many reached out to him for spiritual and financial support and he tried to help them all.

Bio to come
Bio to Come
The Supreme Task of the Church is the Evangelization of the World
Go ye therefore into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved. - Mark 16:15,16
Church Vision
Our vision is to carry on and conduct divine and religious services, healing the sick and afflicted, helping the lame and crippled to walk, giving aid to those persons who are in distress, upholding the Gospel of Jesus Christ, making love and faith a reality in the hearts and souls of men.
Statement of Faith
We believe in the one everlasting, eternal God: infallible in power, Holy in nature, attributes and purposes; and possessing absolute indivisible deity. This one true God has revealed himself as Father through his Son in redemption and as the Holy Spirit, by emanation (1Cor.8:6; Eph.4:6; 2Cor.5:19; Joel 2:28)
This one true God, the Jehovah of the Old Testament, took upon himself the form of man, and as the Son of man was born of the virgin Mary. This one true God was manifest in the flash, that is, in his Son Jesus Christ. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself (2Cor.5:19). He came unto his own and his own received him not (John1:11)
God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory (1Tim.3:16)
We believe that ".. In Him (Jesus) dwelleth all the fullness of the godhead bodily" (Col.1:19) Therefore Jesus in his humanity was and is man; in his deity was and is God. His flesh was the lamb, or the sacrifice of God and he is the only mediator between God and man. "For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" (1Tim.2:5)
We believe that as by one man sin entered into the world and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned (Rom.5:12) and have come short of the glory of God (Rom.3:23) and For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one many be made righteous (Rom.5:20) But God commandeth his love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Rom.5:8)
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God is the Savior of the world. Behold a virgin shall conceive (Is.7:14)..And she shall bring forth a son and thou shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins (Matt.1:21) Neither is there salvations in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts4:12)
Statement of Purpose
The purpose of the Church is to obtain elders, and to appoint Pastors and to send out Missionaries and teachers and to set them apart to their gifts (Tit.1:5 ; Eph.4:11-13)
To enforce all ordinances enacted by Christ such as water baptism (Acts 2:38, 8:12, 10:47) the administration of the Lord's Supper (St.John13:4) solemnizing matrimonies (Heb. 13:4) and the burying of the dead.
